Halloween Party

Just about the coolest, most amazing themed parties are Halloween Parties.

Yes, Christmas parties are fun, green beer is an excuse for endless chugging on St. Patrick’s Day, and everyone (in the US) loves the 4th of July or May Two-Four in Canada.  And Valentine’s Day is the undisputed romantic holiday of the year while New Years Eve is kind of a letdown at about 12:05am.  Still, when it comes to the most fun, memorable, and creative holiday parties, absolutely nothing tops Halloween.

Why are Halloween Parties so special?

That’s a pretty dumb question actually.  Why is the sky blue?  Why does good comedy make us laugh?  Why is pizza so yummy?  Halloween is a day that allows kids to be crazy and silly without any repercussions and adults to act like kids and/or lose all inhibitions.  We get to be wild, crazy, dark, funny, scary, spooky, and fearless and fearful at the same time.  You get to dress up and be anything you want to be guilt-free for one day and just have scary fun.   And what better way to explore our dark nature than through a fun Halloween Party!

Halloween Party Popularity:  A Theory

I have another theory about Halloween’s allure.  For 364 days in the year, death haunts and stalks us.  Sometimes we witness up close the unfortunate pain, suffering, and death of loved ones or hear about it in the news, or experience it second or third hand.  Or sadly, it affects us directly.  But Halloween is like the “Get Out Of Jail Free” card from the Grim Reaper.  Indeed, we turn death on its heels and openly mock it with spring-loaded plastic daggers, demon masks, and fake blood.  We laugh and take the the upper hand on death, pain, and suffering, and relish in the mock-celebration of it.  We conquer the dark side and exploit it and bend it to our own will.  On Halloween, we bring death to its own knees and we parody it in such a way that it’s both exhilarating and incredibly satisfying at the same time.  There’s nothing you can’t do and experience and celebrate on Halloween.  In a way, it’s the only day that we as humans are truly free to celebrate life and death at the same time in a backdrop of our own total mastery over it.

You Might As Well Make It Perfect

A lame Halloween party is really the worst possible party.  Halloween is too special for most people to waste on crap parties, so there’s a lot of pressure on you if you happen to be planning a spectacular Halloween Party worthy of Truman Capote or The Great Gatsby.   In that spirit, I’ve put together some great information and resources on how you can make your Halloween Party the stuff of legend…
